Bachelor in Nursing

The mission of the St Austin International University Department of Nursing is to prepare professional nurses capable of meeting societal healthcare needs in a variety of settings. In their teaching, the faculty nurtures respect for diversity, social responsibility, and a commitment to excellence. Collaborative and interactive teaching methods foster the use of critical thinking to build a strong foundation for the practice of holistic nursing. Legal, ethical, and professional standards guide the faculty in teaching the art and science of nursing..

Overview

Graduates of this program are prepared to meet societal healthcare needs in a variety of settings. Respect for diversity, social responsibility, and a commitment to excellence in nursing care are emphasized. Build skills and confidence in the St Austin Laboratories. By interacting with high-fidelity adult, pediatric and maternal simulated patients (trained actors), you'll develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills before advancing to your clinical rotations.

Curriculum

  • 01Synthesize knowledge from the liberal arts, sciences and nursing as a foundation for safe client-centered care
  • 02Incorporate basic organizational and systems leadership to provide quality care and patient safety
  • 03Incorporate evidence-based nursing practice including current research and critical thinking in the management of client care
  • 04Analyze information using information technology to improve patient outcomes
  • 05Examine the impact of health care policy, finance, and regulatory environments on nursing practice
  • 06Integrate principles of effective communication in professional practice
  • 07Synthesize knowledge of health promotion and disease/injury prevention in designing population focused care
  • 08Integrate professional standards of moral, ethical, and legal conduct into nursing practice

Career Opportunities

Once the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and exams are completed, graduates are eligible to work as a Registered Nurse in various healthcare(e.g., acute care hospitals, primary Healthcare settings such as Rehabilitation centers, and long-term care such as Nursing Homes), seek nursing leadership role
