Accelerated Nursing Program

If you already have a bachelor degree in another field and want to become a nurse, St Austin's Accelerated Bachelor's of Science in Nursing program is for you. The online program allows you to become a baccalaureate-prepared registered nurse in 12 months. Study with instructors specially trained in online, concept-based learning and experience face-to-face, state-of-the-art simulation and live clinical experiences.

Curriculum

  • 01The ABSN program option is a hybrid program
  • 02Courses are taken following the St Austin International University academic calendar with competency checks and multi-modal simulation each semester.
  • 03Throughout the semester, typically one day per week, students will participate in clinical placements, where students will practice in a wide variety of real clinical settings in the Yaoundé Metropolitan area and regional hospitals.
  • 04Students also attend clinical simulation training on campus at St Austin's Center for Clinical Education and Research (CCER) several times a semester.
  • 05*In-person clinical placements are assigned to students for approximately 8-12 hours per week each semester.

Career Opportunities

Work as a registered nurse in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health centers. Find opportunities as a clinical research coordinator, working with healthcare teams to coordinate and manage clinical trials and research studies. Or, educate the next generation of healthcare providers as a nurse educator. Admission Requirements

  • Completion of all prerequisite courses is required before the application deadline
  • Bachelor's Degree in another field other than nursing
  • The seven prerequisite courses listed below must be completed by the application deadline
  • Anatomy and Physiology I with lab 4 Credits
  • Anatomy and Physiology II with lab 4 Credits
  • Microbiology with lab 4 Credits
  • Growth and Development through the Lifespan (Birth through Death) 3 Credits
